Sr. Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping the future of our automated sorting systems by leveraging your expertise to further develop our technology. You will be responsible for designing and developing the mechanical aspects of our automated sorting systems. You will contribute significantly to both customer-specific projects and product development. With your technical experience and knowledge, you ensure that our solutions meet the highest quality standards and perform optimally in real-world applications.

You will work closely with project coordinators and the product management team to optimize designs and improve standardization within EuroSort. Additionally, you will serve as a technical mentor for junior colleagues and actively contribute to improvement projects.

As an indication, you will spend 60-80% of your time on project-related tasks and the remaining 20-40% supporting the Product department.

Your Key Responsibilities

· Design and develop 3D models and technical drawings in Autodesk Inventor

· Create and manage bills of materials (BOMs) and technical documentation

· Act as a technical sparring partner for project coordinators during the engineering phase

· Act as a sparring partner for the project and lead coordinator(s) on project planning, risks and pre calculations

· Support the product department in product development and maintenance

· Define efficient assembly and production sequences for machine components

· Identify, escalate and help resolve technical bottlenecks within projects

· Actively contribute to standardization and process improvement initiatives

· Assist in writing engineering handbooks and documentation

· Participate in design reviews and technical discussions

· Support the head of the department with professionalisation activities and act as a technical mentor for the engineers within the team

You will join a professional and friendly team within the Mechanical Engineering department, where technical excellence is key, but so is a positive and collaborative work environment. You will report directly to the Head of Mechanical Engineering.

· A completed MBO+ / HBO degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field

· A minimum of a few years of experience in a mechanical engineering role in a similar environment

· Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience with Inventor and Vault

· Experience with standardization, modularization, and design optimization is a plus

· Experience with CE markings and machine safety is a plus

· Fluent in Dutch and English, both written and spoken

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· A team player, mentor, and technical sparring partner
